Walks With Matt: Fall Foliage
Saturday, October 13
10 a.m. - noon
Matt Schuth, Naturalist, Author, and Minnesota Landscape Arboretum expert for more than 30 years
An October morning is one of the most perfect times to walk the woods at the Arboretum, especially with Arboretum Naturalist Matt Schuth. As you stroll together, he will explain the science behind the changing colors of foliage in autumn. It’s still mushroom season, so you will also search for and learn about these somewhat mysterious, if not mythical, organisms. On this early fall date, you will undoubtedly also see flowers still in bloom and insects, birds and animals on the move – all of which will quickly help you appreciate why the Arboretum is such an amazing place, and such an important community resource. SUGGESTED EQUIPMENT: binoculars, magnifying glass, practical shoes for walking over uneven paths, and dress for the weather.
