Homeschool Day: Plants and Their Habitats (965-04-15-19)
Monday, April 15, 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Suggested ages: Grades 3 - 6
Imagine stepping into the shoes of plant researchers whose job is to discover and characterize plants from different habitats around the world. Student scientists will first learn about plant adaptations for survival in three very different habitats: Desert, Tropical Rainforest, and Bog. After learning about the basic plant adaptations, student scientists will apply their knowledge in the “Mixed up Plant Lab” where they identify specific plant adaptations to determine what habitat each plant came from. In the Please Touch Greenhouse student scientists will explore more living plant examples from each of these habitats and have the opportunity to make their own plant discovery. In the Planting Shed each student will make and plant their very own terrarium with rainforest plants to take home.
