Lecture - Winter Light: Photographing Winter Wonders
Saturday, January 4, 2020
10 a.m.-noon

Don Tredinnick, professional nature photographer, instructor and owner of Frozen Hiker Photography

Winter can yield surprisingly beautiful images - it's one of Don's favorite seasons for shooting pictures! It does take a little know-how, though. In this lecture you will learn:

  • What to wear
  • How to protect and troubleshoot your equipment in very cold weather
  • How to make best use of winter light
  • Techniques for getting the correct exposure for winter landscapes
  • How to capture beautiful images of falling snow
  • How to compensate for the snow in your camera’s manual and various automatic modes...even how to do it on an iPhone!

Your camera is optional: you may want to bring it to refer to during the lecture, but no hands-on time with the instructor is included. See "In the Field Winter Light Practicum” options below for {optional} corresponding field portion of this class.
