Skill Level: All levels, some familiarity with the manual settings on your camera preferred
Combine two popular hobbies to increase your enjoyment of the winter- birding and photography! Winter adds an extra element to bird photography by providing clean backgrounds, and awesome contrast. Don will walk you through basic techniques for photographing birds, bird behavior in the winter, how to capture birds in flight, how to build an easy backyard studio, and the best equipment for photographing birds. Then you will head out with you fellow students to put your new knowledge to the test. With a little knowledge of bird behavior, and the techniques presented in this class, you will soon be capturing photos of winter birds that you will be proud to hang on your walls and share with friends.
Required Equipment: DSLR or Mirrorless camera, your longest lens (ideally 300mm or longer), and clothing appropriate for the winter weather.
Suggested Equipment: Monopods or Tripods optional.
