Suggested ages: 3rd - 6th Grade
Join other homeschool students as we explore the ephemeral beauty of the woods in bloom in the spring time. Get a close up look at the annual race against summer leaf out when the canopy closes and light is limited for another year. Find out why plants make flowers in various shapes colors and sizes and how flower production is key to survival of these ephemeral plants. Dissect flowers and use microscopes to see pollen, pistils, petals, and anthers up close in the lab and enjoy a guided walk in the Arboretum’s Dayton wildflower garden at the peak of the season.
