The Science of Gardening: More Plants from Plants--Cuttings
Saturday, Feb. 1, 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
You can successfully create a new plant from another plant, if you know what you're doing! Learn from expert horticulturist Jim Calkins to learn how to propagate plants asexually (without seeds) using a variety of fascinating techniques. Through Jim's clear and easy-to-understand presentation, you will learn how to prepare cuttings and layers, and the role of specialized structures in propagating specific plants. You will then take what you've learned and immediately put it into practice in the Learning Center's greenhouse and take home a personal "greenhouse-in-a-pot" that will hopefully be the start of many new plants for your home and garden.
