Terrariums: An Ecosystem in Miniature (100-02-18-17)
Saturday, February 18, 9:30 a.m. - noon
Jessica Heimer, horticulturist, Assistant Manager and Plant Buyer at Mother Earth Gardens
Jessica will help you build your own little ecosystem that will sustain itself with a minimum of care year-round. The terrarium is enclosed and can sit on a tabletop to create a welcome, verdant focal point for your home! You are invited to bring a child or grandchild (suggested age 5 and up)– terrariums are suited to small hands and can introduce children to plant ecology (without anyone realizing that it’s science…). Containers with lids, three plants plus cuttings, moss, gravel, charcoal, gravel, decorative river rock, and a small accessory will be provided. Bring shears, gloves, a small hand trowel and, if you wish, your own special accessory, and dress for greenhouse work.
Learning Center, includes Arboretum admission and supplies for one terrarium
