Spring Divide Clinic (200-05-13-17)
Saturday, May 13, 10 a.m. - noon

University of Minnesota Bee Squad, helping the Twin Cities area foster healthy bee populations
Learning how to properly divide a hive will increase your population and honey production. The Bee Squad will begin with a review of honey bee biology and how it relates to spring management needs. Then you and other beekeepers will visit the Arboretum Apiary to learn how to evaluate and divide a spring colony. You will leave with the confidence to evaluate and, if conditions are right, divide one of your own hives. REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Students must bring their own protective gear and wear a veil in the Apiary. IMPORTANT NOTE: this class takes place on the same day as the popular annual Arboretum Plant Sale! To avoid lines and hassle, do not enter the Arboretum through the main entrance! Instead, gain direct entry to the Bee Center parking area via the 82nd street entrance. Take advantage of the great plant sale finds after class!
