Shooting the Light: Dusk to Dawn
Friday, August 9, 3:30-9:30 p.m., Saturday, August 10, 5:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
Beyond the fundamentals, you can improve your photography by comprehending the role of natural light. Accomplished photographer John Pennoyer
will help you "see the light" to improve your digital images. Discuss temperature of light, difficult lighting situations, Graduated Neutral Density filters, diffusing and reflecting light, backlighting and side lighting techniques. Learn the best type of light for various subjects and what is the best white balance to use in various situations. Friday afternoon, shoot on the grounds for sunset, twilight and perhaps some night photos. Saturday starts at dawn with special access to the Arboretum to capture sunrise images. Wrap-up with a class slide show including images shot during the weekend.
Note: Students should bring all of their camera equipment including tripod and the camera's operating manual. It is also a good idea to bring a small flash light. Includes dinner, breakfast, and lunch.
