Science of Plant Propagation: Cuttings (150-01-27-18)
Saturday, January 27, 9 a.m. - noon

Jim Calkins, landscape and production horticulturist, Research Information Director at Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association and former University of Minnesota instructor

Create new plants from existing ones! Jim will show you how to propagate plants asexually (without seeds) using a variety of fascinating techniques. Through his clear and easy-to-understand presentation, you will learn correct preparation of cuttings and layers, as well as the role of specialized structures in propagating specific plants. Then take what you've learned and immediately put it into practice in the Learning Center's greenhouse. Participants will take home a personal "greenhouse-in-a-pot" that will be the start of many new plants for your home and garden.
Learning Center, includes Arboretum admission and all class supplies
