Pruning Essentials for the Health of Your Trees and Shrubs (150-02-28-15)

Winter is the time to learn when to be the best friend of your shrubs and trees. Proper pruning of your shrubs and trees now helps to ensure their long-term health and productivity. In this class, you will learn the latest theories and practical applications for pruning and training from expert Arboretum landscape gardener Jeffrey Johnson. Instruction will cover varieties from deciduous to evergreen. Based on class questions, additional topics may address issues of tree longevity optimization, maintenance minimization, fruit production, ease of harvest, and pesticide applications. Weather permitting, you will spend time in the collections for outdoor demonstrations and practice sessions. Be prepared to work with hand pruners, handsaws, pole saws, loppers, and spreaders. All materials provided.
