Minnesota Harvest Homeschool Day
Friday, November 8, 12:15 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.
Celebrate the Minnesota Harvest. Enjoy a feast of hands-on learning about locally grown foods. Students will begin this experience by reading food labels, and maps to find out how far sample grocery foods have traveled. Then the students will embark on a tasting tour of locally grown foods. In the Harvest Kitchen, students will harvest sweet potatoes, prepare and taste sweet potato pie. In the Garden Shed, students will make and taste popcorn as we learn about the Three Sisters: Corn, Beans, and Squash-Minnesota's longest cultivated crops. In the Garden Lab we will make and taste applesauce and learn about how Apples have come to be grown in Minnesota. Suggested ages: 3rd-6th grade.
