Garden Bench (200-08-26-17-01)
Saturday, August 26, 9 a.m. – noon
Bim Willow, Bent Willow Artisan and Author
Level: All levels, especially beginners!
Bim Willow is coming to the Arboretum in a tricked-out bus full of willow and you will not want to miss it! Bent willow furniture was an early American craft that is making a strong comeback. Bim is an experienced artist in this medium, and will walk you step-by-step through the willow project of your choice, resulting in a beautiful bent willow piece within a matter of a few hours--really! You will never feel more proud of the furniture building skills you didn’t know you had. Prices listed are per project, which means you’re welcome to bring along a family member or friend (age 12 and up) and work on the project together at no additional charge.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: bring a hammer, pruning shears, and a vehicle large enough to carry your finished project home (rental vehicles available by the hour at Home Depot & Menards).
SUGGESTED EQUIPMENT: loppers, wire cutters, and a brown bag lunch
HOW IT WORKS
Projects are offered at three price points, and each
project takes a different amount of time. You will be working
simultaneously alongside other participants regardless of which project
you choose. Bim will rotate through all participants to provide
one-on-one attention as you complete each step. Images of each project
are available on the website.
Limit 10, Bee Center, includes Arboretum admission and all materials to build a 4’ long, two-seat willow garden bench
