Field Sketching at the Arboretum (100-05-31-14)
Saturday, May 31, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Carlyn Iverson, professional illustrator for more than 200 textbooks and publications
Spend a day at the Arboretum learning techniques of field sketching—one of the most engaging ways of taking your art into nature. The process of drawing subjects out of doors will bring a more intimate relationship between you and the natural world. Learn the techniques and about the tools that will allow you to capture the textures, colors and three dimensionality of your subjects. Through the sketch process, you can record the essential elements for developing a finished piece at a future time, or use sketches to build a diary of natural events and observations. We will work in graphite, carbon dust, and colored pencil. (Supply list link same as current botanical sketching list.) Includes Arboretum admission.
