Edible Garden Year: Ordering and Starting your own Seeds (150-02-08-18)
Thursday, February 8, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Laura Vogel, Arboretum Adult Education Programs Manager, and Christy Marsden, Extension Master Gardener Education Manager
It’s the season for seed catalogs, and boy are they tantalizing… glossy images of ruby tomatoes, piles of watermelon, bundles of carrots. Before you bite off more than you can chew, join Christy and Laura to learn more about the basics of seed starting. They will cover seed/cultivar selection for Minnesota, what seeds can be started inside, needed materials and tips for trickier plants. The Andersen Horticulture Reference Library will be on hand to share information about their massive seed catalog collection. You will leave with a collection of starter seeds, and a catalog or two to peruse.
